Many of those people are great. TikTok is not uniquely evil. Every major platform (Twitch, YouTube, Kick, Meta) struggles with harassment, automated moderation, and selective enforcement. But TikTok's scale, its For You Page algorithm, and its live chat culture make it uniquely bad in practice. The combination of viral reach and broken moderation is a recipe for abuse.
A government ban over daily moderation gripes is disproportionate and unlikely. The divestiture addressed the China-specific triggers without killing the app. So the real solution is simpler: walk away. Build your own website. Control your own stream. Own your own audience.

Consider a public figure—an adult, over eighteen—who gets a neck tattoo. Someone might have an opinion: she had perfect skin, beautiful skin, and she covered it with an ugly tattoo.
That is an honest opinion. It is not saying she is a bad person. It is not saying she is ugly. It is saying that particular tattoo, in that particular place, on that particular skin, looks ugly.
On a normal platform—a platform that actually respected free expression—people could say that. Others might disagree. That is conversation.
But on TikTok, that opinion is risky. Because TikTok's rules against body shaming and appearance-based insults can chill candid opinions—even about public figures, even about trivial aesthetics.
Chapter 5: Calling Out Harassment Gets You Suspended
People who post sexual content in a stranger's live chat are losers. That is not just an opinion. It is a fact. They have no life. They have no respect. They have no boundaries.

So the clip farmers stay. The people who post the same low-effort content day after day stay. But ordinary users are suspended for saying a tattoo is ugly.

The divestiture deal (TikTok USDS, majority U.S. ownership) addressed the China-specific triggers. The app survived. It will likely continue to survive.
So the real solution is not to wait for a ban. It is to walk away and build something better.

Chapter 10: Why Other Platforms Are Not the Answer
Some people will say: Just switch to Kick. Just switch to YouTube Live. Just switch to Twitch.
Those people are missing the point.
Kick has major technical problems—even its co-founder has admitted the platform was rushed with weak infrastructure. It has also faced moderation scrutiny and harmful content incidents.
YouTube Live and Twitch have the same automated moderation headaches, strikes for edgy content, and corporate oversight.
